How to Revise an Existing Method

This tutorial describes the steps to take when an existing method needs to be revised.

Follow "How to Search in Method Manager" tutorial to find applicable method.

1. Creating a New Revision

  1. Click on the revision button
  2. Click OK to confirm
  3. Note that status change to "N" because the screen has refreshed to the newly created revised record
  4. Note that method version changed to "2" or the next incremental value to indicate that you are on a newly created revised record

2. Perform Necessary Changes

Examples of changes:

  • Method description
  • Method instruments
  • Parameter Name
  • Parameter Description
  • Precision
  • Rounding Rule
  • Print Flag
  • LDL or UDL
  • Calculations
  • Test Procedure Name
  • Test Procedure Link
  • Add new parameter
  • Delete existing parameter

3. Save and Approve New Revision

  1. Click on save button (use button appropriate to section where changes were made)
  2. Click Thumbs Up button to approve
  3. Click OK to confirm
  4. Note status change to "A"

The old method would automatically be updated to "O" when you approve the new revision.

Revising a method does not automatically apply changed to the SampleType (Bulk/Item) which uses this method.  You must revise all the associated SampleType (Bulk/Item) to use the new methods, otherwise they will continue to use old obsoleted method.
