How to Unlock a User Account

When a user attempts to access LIMS with wrong credentials over 3 times, their account is locked and can only be unlocked by an administrator.  Users have the option to perform "Password Recovery" but sometimes they keep trying to sign in hoping that a different variation of the password will work.  LIMS gives warnings to the user that their account will become locked.

1. Incorrect Log-In Attempts Warnings

  1. User will see this warning on their 3rd attempt of log-in with incorrect credentials.
  2. If they fail on the 4th attempt they will see this warning

Once the account is locked a user cannot do "Password Recovery" until the account is unlocked by an administrator.  User must email the administrator to get account unlocked then they can perform steps to recover their password.

  1. Click on Main Menu Button
  2. Click on "Administration"
  3. Click on "Users"

3. Search for User Account

  1. If unable to see user name on the 1st page, search by typing in user name
  2. Click binoculars to execute search

4. Unlock User Account

  1. Uncheck the check box under "Locked Out" column

This user will now be able to perform steps to recover their password.  Email the user that their account is unlocked and provide "How to Perform Password Recovery" tutorial.
