How to Customize LIMS Home Page
Review tutorial to familiarize with how to customize LIMS Home Page. The tools ("widgets") that can be added to the home page can help a user see information most useful for their job function. LIMS administrators also have the ability to configure and create new widgets upon request from users.
1. Change Dashboard Mode
- Change the dashboard Mode by clicking on the drop down arrow. "Catalog" model will allow changes to home screen.
2. Adding Visual Widgets to Home Page
Useful Widgets for QC sites:
- Active Samples Pie: Identifies all the samples which are in process
- Incomplete Testing Pie: Identifies all the sample which are in process with incomplete tests
- Non-Conforming Samples (7 days) Pie: Identifies all the samples which are spec status "Fail" or "Warning" for last 7 days
- Non-Conforming Samples (30 days) Pie: Identifies all the samples which are spec status "Fail" or "Warning" for last 30 days
- Non-Conforming Samples (365 days) Pie: Identifies all the samples which are spec status "Fail" or "Warning" for last 365 days
- Outstanding Work: Identifies incomplete tests and quantity, by method name
- Pending Review: Identifies all samples that have been completed but need to be reviewed and approved
- Select Widget
- Select a zone where to add the widget
- Click Add
Follow the same steps to add more widgets
Select only the widgets you find useful in your daily work with LIMS. Adding too many widgets will overwhelm your homepage, thus it's suggested to pick 3 or less, and place them one per zone.
3. Navigate Back to Home Page
- Click dropdown and select "Normal"
- Widgets should refresh automatically, but if you still see a black widget display click "Refresh" button to view results of your widgets
4. Using Widgets
Widgets are not only used to visually represent status of work/samples, but can also be used to quickly drill down to the samples that might be of interest to the user.
4.1. Drill down to Samples
- Select status or other checkbox criteria
- Click "Drill-Down" button to navigate to the list of samples displaying on the widget.
4.2. Change Filters on a Widget
- Uncheck the status that you want to exclude from widget display
- Refresh the widget window
