How to Obsolete an Existing Method
To prevent unnecessary records from being used in newly logged samples or sampletypes, they must be "obsoleted". When a method is revised, old version of that method is obsoleted automatically by the system when new record is approved. This tutorial is for when a method just needs to be obsoleted without a new revision.
Follow "How to Search in Method Manager" tutorial to find applicable method record.
Obsoleting a Method
- Press the "X" button in the top menu
- Press OK to confirm
- Method status updated to "H" (Hold)
Only approved methods can be added to SampleTypes (Bulk/Item), thus making this method change to status "H" will prevent it from being used in future PSampleTypes (Bulk/Item). However if this method is already used in an active SampleTypes (Bulk/Item), system will not automatically take it out of that code. This must be done manually by revising the SampleTypes (Bulk/Item) and deleting this method form it.
