How to Setup Periodic Test Methods

Periodic test methods are parameters that require testing on a predefined frequency of samples.  Often not every sample requires this parameter to be tested so instead of waiving the test, you can configure LIMS to only add the particular test method to every nth sample.  The n value is the predefined frequency.

1. Find and Navigate to SampleType

  1. Hover curser over "Administration"
  2. Hover curser over "Sample Types"
  3. Click on "Update"
  4. Type in bulk code into the bulk code field
  5. Click on binoculars to search
  6. Navigate to the approved and generic sampletype for this bulk code (only applicable where sampletype has multiple customer specific templates, obsolete templates or QA, ShelfLife etc... templates)

2. Re-version SampleType

  1. Hover over "Revise" button
  2. Click on "Use approved method/parameters" option
  3. Click on "OK"
  4. Screen will automatically update to the next version and remain in "N" status until approved for use

3. Add Periodic Method/Parameter

  1. Expand the "Methods" section by clicking on the double arrow
  2. Press "Add New" icon
  3. Type in partial method name
  4. Click on binoculars to search
  5. Click checkbox next to the method you want to add
  6. Click on "Select"

4. Set-Up Periodic Testing

  1. As a default "RT_FREQ" column is set to "0".  Change this value based on how many samples you want this test to be added after.  As an example above "20" means every 20th sample will show this parameter to be tested.
  2. Press save button to save the change

The value in column RT_COUNT will automatically increase everytime a sample is logged in, and will reset after RT_FREQ is fullfilled.

5. Approve SampleType

Click on thumbs up button to approve.  This action will automatically change the previous version of this sample type to "O" and any new sample logged in after this is approved would use the newest template.  If any samples are in process they need to be regraded to the new version.
