How to Set Fixed Limits

WinLIMS has the ability to flag samples based on dynamic and fixed control limits.  Dynamic control limits are calculated automatically by LIMS, sigma and mean are saved in the "Fixed SQC Limits" Table.  Fixed limits need to be put into the table in order for LIMS to flag those failures.  This tutorial will provide information needed to set-up fixed control limits.

This table contains a list of each parameter along with the associated statistics for Dynamic Control Limits.  Dynamic Control Limits are calculated based on historical data computation of average (AVERAGE) and standard deviation (ST_DEV).  They are only populated after at least 5 samples are accumulated for that specific Sampletype version.  When you create a new version of a Sampletype these are cleared and you must wait for 5 samples to accumulate again.  Do not change these values.

To set Fixed Control Limits, first  calculate the average value and standard deviation that is equivalent to the control limits you plan on setting.  After you have these values you can type them into the "Fixed Limits Mean and Sigma" designated text boxes as shown above.  "SET_AVG" is the average used to calculate the fixed control limits and "SET_STD" is the standard deviation used to calculate the fixed control limits.
