Drop Sample Data From SPC

This functionality of LIMS can be used when a root cause has been identified as a special cause variation.  It can also be utilized for batches which are manufactured outside of the parameters of the normal process.  Once a single parameter is dropped form SPC following the directions below the entire sample is dropped, meaning you don't need to drop every parameter.  Here are the conditions necessary to drop an sample from SPC:

  • You can only drop a sample from SPC after it has been Approved or Failed.
  • You must be on the latest bulk lot, not on the sample itself to drop it

From LIMS home screen following these steps to locate the lot number:

1.  Hover your mouse over "Sample Manager"

2.  Click on "Find Sample (Work Orders, ETC...)

1.  Type in the appropriate lot number or sampleID

2.  Click on the Sherlock icon to search

1.  Click on the checkbox next to your lot (select the lot)

2.  Press the magnifying glass icon to drill down into this sample

The red box indicates the lot that needs to be dropped.  Navigate to a lot which was manufactured after the lot that needs to be dropped.

Expand the "Results" section

Click on SPC Chart icon

To select the lot that needs to be dropped from SPC click on the data point.

Notice that on the x-axis the selected lot is underlined.  You can also see selected lot in the statistical panel on the left of the graph.  It's important to verify that you selected the correct data point.

NOTE: Only after the data point is selected you can proceed to dropping it.

Press the "Drop" button

This text box will automatically pop-up and prompt you to record the reason.

This is important data that requires to be tracked.  Please include a reason such as: Qual Batch, Root cause identified, Test sample into the text box.

Press "OK" after the reason is entered

1.  Click on the "Show Dropped?" check box

1.  Select the data point.  Make sure you selected correct lot.

1.  Select the Start Date of the date range in which your dropped sample was manufactured

2.  Select the End Date of the date range in which your dropped sample was manufactured

3.  Click "Submit"

Report output shows the "SPC Drop Justification"
