How to Establish a Connection to LIMS DB
In order to export data from LIMS DB directly into minitab user must first establish an ODBC connection from their computer. This has to be done on each computer that wants to utilize minitab macros. Once a connection is set-up on the computer it is saved and does not need to be done again.
1. Open Minitab
- Double click on the minitab icon to open the application
- Welcome screen
2. Set-Up DB Connection
- Click on "File"
- Select "Query Database (ODBC)"
2.1. Set-Up Machine Data Source
- Click on tab "Machine Data Source"
- Click the "New" button
- Click "OK"
2.2. Create New Data Source
- Click "Next"
- Select "SQL Server"
- Click "Next"
- Click "Finish"
3. Create a New Data Source to SQL Server
- In the "Name" field type: MinitabESGDB
- In the "Description" field type: MinitabESGDB
- In the "Server" field type: csin0wpdb010.pahprod.pahglobal.net
- Press "Next"
3.1. Set-up Authentication
- Click the radio button: "With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user"
- Type in Login ID: minitab
- Type in Password: minitab123
- Click "Next"
3.2. Select Database
- Checkbox "Change the default database to:"
- Click the drop down
- Select "enthone" from drop down
- Click "Next"
- Click "Finish" (nothing should be changed on this window)
3.3. Test Data Source
- Click "Test Date Source"
- After the testing is completed you should see text "TEST COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY" Click "OK"
- Click "OK"
- Click "OK"
3.4. Cancel the Prompt
- Click "Cancel"
