How To Enter and Review Sample Results - Sample Manager
This tutorial explains how to put in results for a particular sample utilizing the Sample Manager. Results can also be put in using Results CrossTab which is explained in more detail in tutorial "Results CrossTab". When following this tutorial search for your sample utilizing steps listed in "How To Search For Samples" tutorial.
1.0 Results Section Controls
- Refresh the view after changes
- Save changes to parameter list or results
- Validate results against Spec limits
- In-validate results against Spec limits
- Delete parameter
- Access to SPC charts
- Access to history of the sample
2.0 Results Section Columns
- Check box to select all parameters on this page
- Results Textbox. Will show a blank text box when input is required and a "To Be Calculated" text when result is calculated with a formula based on another paramter.
- Parameter units
- Parameter name
- Document name of anlytical procedure
- Document Link (if properly configured)
- Internally set low and high limit for the particular parameter
- Customer Specifications (will show on CoA)
- Automatically assigned status for results
- Print flag = 0 does not show parameter on customer report, print flag=1 does show parameter on customer report
- Descriptive Specification Field. Write Pass if the parameter attribute matches the verbiage in the second half of this field. (Example: parameter is apperance and the Target Text is "pass~Clear, amber liquid", you will write "pass" into the result if the apperance of the solution is clear and it's an amber liquid. The CoA report will contain verbiage "Clear, amber liquid"
- Entered_On and Entered_By automatically assigned based on when a user put in results
- If the parameter is optional this field will contain "1" otherwise it will be blank or zero.

2.2 Sorting Results Section Columns
- Click on column header to sort the Results table based on that particular column data.
2.3 Navigating to additional resuls
Scroll to the bottom of the screen where you can see how many pages or results are available for the particular sample. click on page number to switch between pages. Table shows 10 parameters per page.
3.0 Enter Results
Enter analytical results into each cell corresponding to parameter name
- Cadmium
- Copper
- Iron
3.1 Saving changes
- Save changes after all results for a given page have been entered.
- As the page refreshes you will see the calculation cells calculating appropriate results
- Cell color indicates the conformance to the limits. (Red = failing internal limits. Orange = failing TDS limits. Green = Passing limits. Dark Green = Results have been modified. Light Red = Failing dynamic SPC)

- Note that columns "Entered_ON" and "Entered_BY" have also changed accordingly
4.0 Results Review
After all the results have been entered on all pages to perform result review select all parameter and click on the button to validate results against specs.
- Click on the Check box to select all parameters on the page
- Click on Validate button
- Spec Status is showing "WARNING". When validation against specs fails internal specs the status will show "WARNING". When validation against specs fails Customer specs the status will show "FAIL". To see which parameter failed spec pay attention to the Status column.
- When a parameter fails a spec and it's a manually input column the color will change to red or orange, if it's a calculated column color will not change so it will be important to understand what statuses for parameters mean.
- "ev" -> entered, validated
- "m2v" -> modified, fails TDS limits, validated
- Scroll through all the pages to validate results
- Sample Status will change to "V" once all the pages have been properly validated. At this point sample is ready for approval.
