How to Enter Results - External Lab
This tutorial covers various options to search for samples and record analytical results. Samples must already be logged into LIMS with Sample ID assigned.
1. Sample Life Cycle: Manage Samples
Manage samples screen is the most comprehensive view of a sample. It shows all the necessary information on the screen and allows a user to enter sample related information as well as analytical results. This screen can be used as a search with all the available text boxes used as a search criteria.
1.1. Navigate to Manage Samples Screen
- Click on Main Menu button
- Click on "Sample Life Cycle"
- Click on "Manage Samples"
1.2. Searching in Manage Samples Screen
Follow steps in 1.1 to open a blank Manage Samples Screen
- Enter Sample ID into the Sample ID text box
- Press Binoculars icon to execute search
You can put in single search criteria by filling one a single text box such as Tank ID, Process Code or Customer # or fill in multiple text boxes to narrow search results. If you have the sample ID that is the easiest search because the Sample Id's are unique so you would only get one match back.
1.3. Record Received On Date at External Lab
- Expand the "Sample Descriptive" section
- Click on calendar icon next to "Rcv'd On 2nd Site" text box
- Click on a day to select
You will see a green circle with a check box inside of the text box which confirms that data was automatically saved into the database.
1.4. Log in Analytical Data
- Type in analytical result into the text box next to the parameter.
- Move the cursor into the next cell, to record next result
- Previous record will automatically save (designated by a green circle inside of the result text box)
2. Sample Life Cycle: Browse Samples
Browse Samples screen is a list view of samples matching search criteria. It shows limited information about each sample, and allows a drill down options to navigate to Manage Samples screen described in step 1 of this tutorial. This option is best used when an exact sample ID is not known.
2.1. Navigate to Browse Samples Screen
- Click on Main Menu button
- Click on "Sample Life Cycle"
- Click on "Browse Samples"
2.2. Searching in Browse Samples Screen - Filter Criteria
- Search by defining criteria for any of the text boxes listed above.
- Click on binoculars to execute search
2.3. Searching in Browse Samples Screen - Favorite Query
- Click on the favorite query icon
- Click to execute the "Incomplete Samples AQB" query
2.4. Drill Down into Manage Sample
- Click on checkbox to select sample
- Press the magnifying glass to drill down into Manage Sample Screen
Enter results following step 1.4 above
