My Profile and Home Page Overview

Review turtorial to familiarize with menus, profile and home page in LIMS V8.

1. Log-in

  1. Type in your Username
  2. Type in your Password
  3. Check the "Keep me logged in" checkbox if you would like to have your password and username remembered
  4. Click Log In button to proceed

  1. Main Menu
  2. Home Page Button which allows you to return directly to homepage
  3. Navigate to Recent Pages Button
  4. Change/Set your site button
  5. My Profile Button
  6. Log-out Button

3. My Profile

3.0  My Profile

Navigate to "My Profile" either by opening the Main Menu or Clicking on "My Profile" Icon

  1. My Profile Panel
  2. My Security Question Panel: Used to change your password or security question
  3. My Password: Used to change your password

Always change the password from the one given by the administrator.

3.1. My Profile Panel

  1. Set your master page to: "Top menu" - this is the only setting at which new menus will work
  2. Connection String Will Vary based on what database hold all the information.  For customer analytical LIMS all data is kept in the "ConnectionStringLIMS" Do not change this setting
  3. Set your time zone depending on your location. (East Coast is UTC -5 Hours)
  4. Set your site as appropriate
  5. Save Changes

3.2. My Security Question Panel

Used to change your security question

  1. Type in your password
  2. Type in the new security question
  3. Type in new security question answer
  4. Save Changes

3.3. My Password Panel

Password must contain a minimum of 7 characters including a capital letter and a symbol

Used to change your password

  1. Put in current Password
  2. Put in new Password
  3. Confirm New Password
  4. Save Changes

4. Return to Home Page

Click on the Home icon or click on word "Home" on the breadcrumbs menu as shown above

5. Customize Home Page

Change your dashboard Mode to "Catalog" to customize your home screen

5.1. Adding Visual Widgets to Home Page

Useful Widgets for Customer Analytical:

  • Active Samples Pie: Identifies all the samples which are in process
  • Incomplete Testing Pie: Identifies all the sample which are in process with incomplete tests
  • Non-Conforming Samples (7 days) Pie: Identifies all the samples which are spec status "Fail" or "Warning" for last 7 days
  • Non-Conforming Samples (30 days) Pie: Identifies all the samples which are spec status "Fail" or "Warning" for last 30 days
  • Non-Conforming Samples (365 days) Pie: Identifies all the samples which are spec status "Fail" or "Warning" for last 365 days
  • Outstanding Work: Identifies incomplete tests and quantity, by method name
  • Pending Review: Identifies all samples that have been completed but need to be reviewed and approved
  • Reports List: Direct link to SharePoint Reports (Needs to be configured)
  1. Select Widget
  2. Select a zone where to add the widget
  3. Click Add

Follow the same steps to add more widgets

Select only the widgets you find useful in your daily work with LIMS.  Adding too many widgets will overwhelm your homepage, thus it's suggested to pick 3 or less, and place them one per zone.

  1. Click dropdown and select "Normal"
  2. Click "Refresh" button to view results of your widgets

5.3. Using Widgets

  1. Select status or other checkbox criteria
  2. Click "Drill-Down" button to navigate to the list of samples displaying on the widget.  

6. Log-Out

Click the "key" icon to log out.
